Mechanized Cutting Systems

A hand torch is only as good as the hand holding it. Put the same torch on a machine that travels at a set speed along a rail or a template, and the cut comes out square, the bevel angle holds, and the part goes to the welder without a stop at the grinder.

This section covers the thermal side of cutting — oxy-fuel and plasma, mechanized. Circle cutters that bore holes in vessel walls. Track tractors that cut and bevel plate off the table. Programmable machines that cut saddles and laterals in pipe from a stored shape. Arc gouging carriages that take the operator off the trigger.

In other sections you will find our cold-cutting equipment: G.B.C. pipe and plate bevelling machines, orbital pipe cutters, cold saws and bandsaws. Those cut mechanically. What follows here cuts with heat, which is what you want when the diameter gets large, the profile gets complicated, or the machine has to go out to the work.
